How was your 2019?

Wow what a year and if I am honest this year has whizzed past for me.  Health and well-being can whiz past you too.

This time of year, is a great time to reflect on your health and well-being.  How did you manage your year?  Did you move more, eat better and stay positive? 

Over a year we all know that we have fluctuations on our own health care and well-being. Often the New Years resolutions that many start with wain after the first few weeks. Now is a great time to reflect on your year.  Leave aside any negativity about what you didn’t achieve but instead look forward on things you can do for your health starting now. 

I don’t believe in starting resolutions on the 1st of January or starting your healthy eating on a Monday.  I don’t want to motivate you to start your healthcare when we reach 2020,  instead I want to encourage you to take small steps starting today to address your health and wellness.

Here are some things you can do starting today to help your health and well-being in 2020:

  1. Smile more – research shows that smiling will raise your mood, whether you feel like doing it or not
  2. Positivity – you are in control of your mindset so keep it positive. Treat yourself and others well.
  3. Move more every day – just 10 mins walking every day will give you health benefits
  4. Eat well – eat food that is near to its original source.  Eat food that is vibrant in colour and reduce your sugar intake
  5. Hydrate – keep hydrated with plenty of water.  Limit your intake of alcohol to within the national guidelines.
