Bookham

Bookham and why I love it

I felt it was time to write about why I love Bookham Village and its close-knit community.  Last night was the late-night shopping event and it reminded me what a great place I get to live and work in.

I grew up in Ashtead and apart from a few years away living in Sussex and Hampshire, I have spent most of my life in this area.  Approximately 26 years ago I moved to Bookham and in more recent years I crossed the border to live a short distance away in Fetcham.

Fine Fettle is very much at the heart of Bookham with its location at Rayleigh House at the top of the High Street.  A historical building owned by Mrs Christie who changed it into a temperance hotel to control the drinking in the area.  It really is a great place to have a business even if we do have mulled cider available on late night shopping evenings!!.

So, what do I love about Bookham?

I love the village vibe. I love the locals and all the characters that I meet.  I love the local shop owners who provide a range of services that are not seen in many High Streets.  I especially like the customer care that they offer. I like it all!

What I really love about Bookham is the community.  So many people yesterday came to see us at the late-night shopping.  Kind words, support and motivation for me to keep on doing what we do.  Best of all happy children grasping their lucky dip prizes.

I love the People that arrived specially to say thank you for treatments they had received.  People who came to support us and help raise money for the Keep Bookham Bright campaign. The ladies that helped us from the Grange and their enthusiasm and elf outfits.  The children checking off their disguise pictures and asking for my autograph!! Best of all happy children grasping their lucky dip prizes.

Huge thanks, as always must go to my awesome team from Fine Fettle.  Donations of their time, donations of the food and drink and time spent clearing away afterwards.

Bookham village is an awesome place and I for one will be cheering on anything that goes on in the community.  Join me in celebrating what we have and support those making changes to move it forward for the future.
