Helen Bullen BSc (Hons) Osteopathic Medicine
Managing Director and Owner of Fine Fettle Multi-healthcare
I am a fully qualified GOsC registered Osteopath, Lecturer and Owner of Fine Fettle Multi-healthcare. Over the last 13 years I have gained much experience teaching Osteopaths, Sports therapists and Sports Masseurs. As well as owning Fine Fettle I own another company called Clinic Essentials where I mentor other therapists that want to start up or grow their clinics
My teaching work has involved being a senior tutor, module leader and MSc Co-ordinator at the Surrey Institute of Osteopathic Medicine and at the Irish College of Osteopaths in Dublin where I was the Vice Principal for 3 years. I have taught Sports and Remedial Massage to students at the Raworth College, Dorking, The Paragon College in Leatherhead, The London School of Health and Beauty and the RAF, Navy and Army PT instructors at Headley Court in Leatherhead. I have also lectured internationally to Osteopathic and Physiotherapy students in Italy.
My work as an Osteopath has led to me treating all ages of patients ranging from young children to the very elderly. One of my interests is in treating runners both track and long distance and I run regularly so understand the passion behind being a runner and have had success treating marathon runners, hurdlers, ultra runners and Iron Man competitors. My training as a student at SIOM was in Classical and Structural Osteopathy.
As well as running a busy practice I am a member of the General Osteopathic Council Investigating Committee where I sit on a panel that looks at complaints made against Osteopaths and decides what further action should be taken. I also work for Wales University as their External Examiner for Osteopathic schools in Ghent, Belgium and Milan, Italy
Some of the therapists at Fine Fettle have been students of mine over the years before qualifying and I am very proud to have them working along side me.
My teaching experience covers subjects such as Osteopathic technique, clinical skills, sports and remedial massage, pathology, differential diagnosis and orthopedic examination. I own an online company called Clinic Essentials that helps new graduates and qualified Osteopaths set up in practice giving business support and clinical mentoring.
Until recently retiring from top level sport, I have played National League Division 1 Volleyball for the last 20 years and whilst doing so gained numerous selections in the Surrey County team. I now spend my time keeping fit running or some might say jogging as speed is not a word used for my efforts but in my time I have run a few half marathons and most importantly the London Marathon. I attend the local gym and can be found doing any class that lets me jump up and down a lot!!
